Math Help - Place Value

digit - a symbol used to make numbers. Examples are 0, 1, 7, 8, 2, etc.
place - tells us WHERE the digit is located. Example is ones place, tens place, etc.
value - tells us HOW much the digit is worth. Example is 800, 50, 3

Numerals are written three different ways:

Standard Form - all digits. Example is 257
Word form - all words. Example is two hundred fifty-seven
Expanded form - equation or spread out. Example is 200 + 50 + 7 = 257.
